 TEXTILE COMPOSITE  MARKETING STRATEGY

 TEXTILE COMPOSITE  MARKETING STRATEGY

1.INTRODUCTION

Composites can be defined as the materials with conscious combination of two or more distinct material phases into one engineering material where the phases are still discernible. In the load bearing or structural applications, composites generally comprise of a bulk phase called as matrix enclosing fibrous materials termed as reinforcement. The objective of matrix is to bind the reinforcement together so as to effectively introduce external loads to the reinforcement and to protect it from adverse environmental effects. The matrix gives the composite the shape, surface appearance, environmental tolerance to high temperature, water, ultra-violet light, etc. and overall durability. Fibrous network in the composite carries most of the structural loads and dictates macroscopic stiffness and strength of composites.

Polymer composites are increasingly gaining importance as substitute materials for metals in applications within the aerospace, automotive, marine, sporting goods and electronic industries.  Their light weight and superior mechanical properties make them especially suited for these applications.  Fibrous composite materials have two or more distinct phases, which include high strength/stiffness reinforcing fibers and the encapsulating matrix material.  Fibers can be either discontinuous (chopped) or continuous. Polymer matrices fall into two categories: thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers.

  1. MARKET SCENARIO:

3.PROPERTIES AND SPECIFICATIONS:

The properties and specifications depend on end use and even on climatic conditions.

1.Denier: It is any range to 500, 3000 even up to 5000. In most of the cases, it is flat     yarn with high tenacity.

  1. Tenacity: It is expected to be 7.5 gm/denier to 9 gm/denier.
  2. Elongation: It depends on end use but by a large the preferable range is 14 to 20 %.

4 .Shrinkage: It depends on end use but in general it is 6% for normal, low shrinkage i.e. less than 2.5%for coated fabrics, zero shrinkage for the product of woods substitute (solid compact).

5.Some products are to be high thermal stability, high flame and heat resistance, eco friendly.

4.TECHNOLOGY BOTTLENECKS:

New market needs product innovations for the development of the high speed platform. Some of these needs are

  1. Faster production line
  2. Higher and guaranteed quality of product
  3. Operator and maintenance friendly production lines
  4. Flexible production line for first change over
  5. Reduce environmental impact

To reduce the overall cost of product to increase machine speed without loosing the efficiency ,quality and waste level:

Handling of raw material should be art of the technology .Touch less material handling up to packing level with reduce the cost and maintain the quality .

Operators should be well verse with a machine and the technology and should be much more efficient.

Production cost to be reduced by reducing man power ,power consumption, wastage, technical up gradation and floor uses.

5.MARKET GROWTH:

It is found to be 6% annually growth in the world. For the subcategory products it is 30% per year. Composite industry in India is growing rapidly. In the last two years, the growth rate in Indian composite market has been approximately 12%.

 Market Reports on CFT

The Continuous Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastics (CFT) market has experienced significant growth during last 5 years and is expected to reach $188.7 million in 2014 with a global growth rate of 12% for the next five years. The critical success factor for CFTs material producers will increasingly be not only about developing new products at low cost; in addition, Lucintel believes the most successful companies will be those that can develop application-specific, customer-focused solutions and have the ability to help their customers achieve long-term business objectives, such as increasing performance or lowering costs.

Historically, CFTs were used in niche applications in aerospace and defense market. But in recent years, the market has exploded in automotive, sporting, transportation, industrial and other applications. Demand has been driven by a variety of aerospace, automotive and truck applications. However, CFTs are even finding their way into furniture, fastener, medical, marine, and other applications adding on to increase in use of thermoplastic composites by Airbus and Boeing and other commercial aircraft manufacturers.
